Although there are several types of this dairy product, the common cheese eaten on the island around this time is Tastee’s canned cheese.

Improves Dental Health

Cheese is able to enhance your dental health as it is rich in calcium. Calcium plays a critical role in teeth formation, strengthening the enamel which protects the teeth from cavities and erosion.

Lowers blood pressure

Consuming cheese can also lower one’s blood pressure. Calcium is important for healthy blood pressure, helping blood vessels to tighten and relax when they need to.

Improves bone health

Like teeth, bones thrive off of calcium. Calcium helps to keep the bones in the body dense and strong. A lack of calcium can result in brittle and fragile bones which tend to break very easily.

The main storage of the chemical element, it is said the bones contain 99.5 per cent of calcium within the body.

Improves cholesterol

Being a fermented food item, cheese can boost gut bacteria which in turn has a positive effect on cholesterol levels. Cheese lowers low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol.
